Frindle Summary

In Lincoln Elementary school there are smart kids studying there, and one of them is Nick Allen. In third grade Nick decided to make the teachers room into a tropical island and the teacher was delighted and said “It’s so cute!”

In fifth grade their teacher is Mrs. Granger. She lives alone in a tidy little house and drives to school every morning in a pale blue car. She wears gray or blue uniform and seems like a giant. Because of her gray eyes, she looks like she has x-ray vision. She loves the dictionary too.

The first thing they did was take a vocabulary pretest of the 35 words the kids know. Nick was an expert at asking the delaying question, he knew all the tricks.

There was a rule in Nick’s house, and it was home work first, it was the law from September to June. Nick’s family liked to read because of that, the shelves covered ¾ of their wall. They have 2 sections, the red is for kids and the black one for adults.

The difference between the large dictionary & Samuel Johnson’s dictionary is: the large dictionary has 450,000 words in it & Samuel Johnson’s dictionary has 43,000 words in it. While Nick was walking with Janet Fisk. Janet found a gold ballpoint. When Nick accidentally bumped into her and she stumbled of the curb, the gold pen clattered onto the street. Nick called it a Frindle. When it was language art’s time, Nick launched another delay question and said “Mrs. Granger, I forgot my Frindle.”
