IEW 2 Lesson 3-Last Communications

Alexander is mighty and is as fast as a cheetah. Although he excelled at everything, his tutor, Leonidas, was not satisfied. Because Alexander went to his training every day, he became the best at hunting and fighting.

His father is King Phillip II. King Phillip wants Alexander not only to be healthy and skilled but wise and humble too. Most of the time, when Alexander feels pressured from his training, he goes to his room and reads books.

On his 12th birthday, Alexander acquired a new tutor. His name was Aristotle. King Phillip said that now he had trained his body, now it was time to train his mind. Thanking his father, Alexander rushed to the schoolyard. Aristotle was gentle and kind.

During the next months, Alexander had new and exciting discoveries. But he became proud and refused to share his knowledge with the other people.

There came a day when it was the last lesson. Alexander is now 16 and should serve his father in the army. Every time Alexander entered new countries; he sent the flowers back to Aristotle. Meanwhile, Aristotle opened new schools. But when Alexander heard about it, he became sad. Alexander sent a letter of sadness. Aristotle replied, “I wish you were still the boy that I had known when you were 12. Be that boy always. Be humble, Alexander, and you will not slip.” That reply was the last time they communicated.
