IEW – Aslan’s Country – Lesson 7B – The Largest Art Collection in England

Writer's picture: Dan GochuicoDan Gochuico

The Buckingham Palace is where the royal families in England lived since 1837. Architect Edward Blore built the original palace in 1705 for the Duke of Buckingham. In 1761, King George III asked for an architect to expand the Buckingham Palace. Sadly, both him and his son, King George IV, died before it was finished. Queen Victoria was the 1st to live inside the newly expanded Buckingham Palace. It has 775 rooms and 78 bathrooms. Queen Victoria requested the pictures of her family to be displayed in the grand staircase, and they have not been moved for over 150 years! Visitors can enjoy the most extensive art collection in England posted in Buckingham Palace.
