The Pill Bug

The pill bugs are backyard inhabitants around the world.  When they are disturbed, they roll like a pill.  The sow bug, which looks similar but flatter and cannot roll, is a close relative.  Both animals are crustaceans like the crab and the lobster.  They breathe through gills not lungs.  The gills should be moist that is why you find it in damp places.
